Jersey City Asian Merchant Association, JCAMA, is group of people who are merchants from New Jersey, active in making the difference for the last 14 years. The group was gathered to resolve the problems with day to day quality of life in the business district of Jersey City, New Jersey.
The group expanded its working territory,getting actively involved in supporting students by providing scholarships, supporting the one teacher school in India, supporting the area community colleges and hospitals, and working to promote the understanding among the different segments of the community. By keeping its non-political character, the group also support the efforts to make our democracy more vibrant and worthy by promoting and supporting participation of the people in elections by asking them to vote.
For the last five years the groups has provided free parking to the patrons coming to Jersey City to promote this segment of the city as the most viable business hub.
As a part of cultural activities, JCAMA embarked on the idea of Navratri Celebration in Jersey City six years ago, and today with cooperation from GovindaSanskar Center, Journal Square Restoration Corporation, City of Jersey City, and Urban Enterprise Zone of New Jersey, JCAMA has been successfully celebrating the event in the presence of about 100,000 participants and visitors in 4 days of celebration.
In 2008 the group broadcasted the event on web and has 3,500 clicks per hour!
